Individual:
She gave birth to George Alexander Clark GRIFFITH in first marriage from which
she was widowed young. A searchable database online for Washington Co., IN, lists her as "Sarah Davis
Griffith" when she married Henry Harvey Mullan/Mullen. THAT would seem to
suggest she was "maiden-named" DAVIS, and "the widow Griffith." A widow at a
very young age. NOTE: 1850 census: Indiana, Ripley Co., Johnson Township. Sept. 28, 1850.
Living with husband Henry MULLAN, Sr., age 57, who worked as a shoemaker and
had been born in Pennsylvania. Also in household were children Henry Jr. (20),
Elias (18), Nancy (16), James (14), Sarah Ellen (11), Mary Lindsay (9),
Archibald Lindsay Thompson (7), William Alexander Hamilton Horn (6). ALL of
those children had the surname MULLAN, including the child with THREE middle
names! Child age 9 was born in Indiana, as were all younger children; child age
11 was born in Pennsylvania, as were all older children. ... In other words,
