Jonathan Hunt moved from Connecticut to Northampton
about 1660. Was a maltster by occupation.
Became deacon of the church. Was
made freeman of the Colony, 1662; deacon,
1680-91. Was representative to the General
Court, 1690. Ob., aged fifty-four, Sept. 29,
1691. His father was John Hunt (as near as
we ascertain); and mother was Mary, the daughter
of John Webster, -- chosen, 1656, the fifth
governor of Connecticut; whose will, made
June 25, 1659, named grandchildren Jonathan
and Mary Hunt. Gov. Webster was previously
at Salem, where his daughter was member of
the church; and he moved from Connecticut
to Hadley with wife Agnes, and ob. April 5,
1661.
