[Brēderbund WFT Vol. 3, Ed. 1, Tree #4737, Date of Import: Oct 3, 2001] John and Jane Hagerman Faires Gr Gr Gr Gr Grandparents John Faires (Faris, Farris, Fairest, Pharis) was born on June 22, 1765 in Bucks Co, Pennsylvania. He was the son of William and MaryFoster (Forster) Faires. Jane Hagerman was born on September 10, 1772,also in Bucks Co. She was the daughter of Henry and Rebecca SearleHagerman. John and Jane were married on June 7, 1792 in Bucks Co. John was a veteran of the Revolutionary War. He served under Capt. Jonathon Vernon, 6th Co, and Lt. Col. Caleb Davis, 6th Batallion, ChesterCo, PA. Malatia, 1780 - 81. He was only 15 years old. After their marriage, John and Jane moved to Philadelphia and then to Virginia before coming to Ohio about 1799. They had 14 children. There is a record that David, the first, was born on Febraury 25, 1793. He married Sara Vore on July 18, 1815 in Guernsey Co, Ohio. Henry, my grgr gr grandfather was the fourth born on March 26, 1799 in Washington Co,Ohio. Henry married Elinor Vore on March 31, 1826 in Guernsey Co. Iassume that Sara and Elinor were sisters. John was a resident of Guernsey Co in 1811 when he entered his land grant at the Marietta Land Office. He was on a list of jurors, SenicaTwp, Guernsey Co, in 18ll. He was a Petit Juror (Pharis) in Senica Twpin 1816 along with Peter Vore. He was on the 1814 tax list in BeaverTwp. He was on the 1820 census in Beaver Twp as John Fairest* with anastrick which indicated a probable wrong spelling. In 1825, John purchased land in Bern Twp, Athens Co. He is on the 1840 census in Decatur Twp, Washington Co. On the 1850 census, JohnFaires, 84, is living with James Faires, 20, and wife Mary, 26, in WesleyTwp, Washington Co. Jane died on September 3, 1846, John on August 29, 1856. They are buried in Old Decatur Cemetary in Decatur Twp, Washington Co, Ohio. There are two markers. There is also a flag and medallion to indicate John's Rev war service. There is another marker - Sarah Ann - daughter of James H. and Mary Faires, died August 18, 1856, aged 2 years.
