SEAY, ROLAND S. 70, Spartanburg, h/o Willie Harrell Seay, 1/7/49 p. 3
Roland S. Seay, 70, died at his home, Spartanburg, Route 1, Cannons Camp Ground Community, Thursday morning at 5. Mr. Seay was born and reared in Spartanburg County and was a son of the late William and Sarah Ann Seay. He was a county employee for 33 years.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Willie Harrill Seay; 6 sons, Paul Riley, Bill Kie and Joe, all of Spartanburg, and Jim of Wilmington, NC; 3 daughters, Mrs. Claude Smith, Mrs. William Arthur and Mrs. Jimmie Martin, all of Spartanburg; 4 brothers, Perry, of Fairmont, Dean and Charles, both of Drayton, and Heze of Boiling Springs; and 13 grandchildren
Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 2:30 at Sloan's Grove Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. James Bryant and the Rev. J. G. Huggin, the Rev. C. H. Sims, the Rev. R. C. Pettus and the Rev. J. G. Wood. Active pallbearers will be Lamar, Alex, Buck, Rufus, Dudley, and Perry Seay, Jr. The body is at home, Spartanburg, Route 1 and will be taken to the church Friday at 12:30 to await the hour of service. The M. W. Bobo Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Lived in the country south of New Hope (Sloan's Grove) Church. Had mules, a barn and hay. Also had a storm cellar.
