Text: Tombstone at Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery:
Sherrill, Andrew J. May 2, 1868 October 16, 1943
From Von Hamrick @ vbhamrick@webtv.net:
Some other interesting points that Ruby mentions were:
(1) Andrew told her that if they were kin to the Sherrills at Sherrills
Ford, NC, he did not know how. From this I would assume the Enos Family
neither visited nor received visits from the Catawba/Iredell Sherrills.
In the early 1800's, Sherrills were located in Catawba/Iredell County,
Burke County and Tenn. Prior to 1800, Burke County went all the way to
the Tenn state line. I would guess that Andrew's Enos might have been
part of the Burke or Tenn Sherrills. It is said that the Tenn Sherrills
was founded by a William Sherrill that was a brother or possible son of
the Adam that started the Catawba/Iredell Clan.
So from all this, I would say we are looking for a Enos that lived from
about 1848 to 1928. He would be a descendant of the Tenn or Berke
County Sherills.
