GeneaNet is a popular genealogy search engine that resides at http://www.geneanet.com. When you upload your GEDCOM file to GenCircles, you have the option of having your file also listed in GeneaNet. This is highly recommended because it brings much more exposure to your file. By choosing to have your data listed in GeneaNet, you are helping many more genealogists to find your data.
To have your file included in GeneaNet, you will need to change the Preferences for your file. Once under Preferences, you will need to check the box next to "Include this file in GeneaNet". To change your file's preferences now, click here and select Preferences next to your file.

How long will it take for my data to show up in GeneaNet?
Your data will show up in GeneaNet within 24 hours (but usually sooner).
Is GeneaNet given my GEDCOM file?
No, your GEDCOM file never leaves the GenCircles' server. Instead, our server sends the GeneaNet server the summary information on your file. For example, it might tell the GeneaNet server that you have 23 Smith individuals in your file. Then the user finding this information in GeneaNet would then access your file at GenCircles to see the data on these individuals.
Will private/living individuals be included in GeneaNet?
No, private/living individuals are not sent to the GeneaNet server and they will not be listed in GeneaNet whatsoever.
Why do I want my data in two places, instead of just one?
GeneaNet does not duplicate the efforts of having your file at GenCircles. Instead, think of it as only a search engine, like any other search engine such as AltaVista or Google. Your data is only shown in summary form (with no details on any specific individuals), and then the user can click on a link, which takes them to your file at GenCircles.
What about when I update my data?
The GeneaNet server will update your data within 24 hours of it being updated at GenCircles.
What if I change my mind and want my data removed from GeneaNet?
GeneaNet will have your data removed within 24 hours of you either deleting your entire file at GenCircles, or removing the option in your file preferences to have your file indexed with GeneaNet.
Will GeneaNet ever burn my data on CD or claim it as its own?
GeneaNet is not in the business of collecting data to put on CD's. GeneaNet's own site policies state that at any time, data can be permanently removed from their system. In addition to this, GenCircles has written promises from the people at GeneaNet that state that your data can be removed at any time, and that no data is ever given or sold to third parties. And as stated in the answer to the previous question, the second you decide you want your data removed from GeneaNet, it is done so within 24 hours (and permanently).
Is GeneaNet given any of my registration information?
When you register at GenCircles, you provide your name, email address, a username, and a password. GeneaNet is only given your name and username (what is absolutely necessary for them to index your data). They are NOT given your email address or your password.
