Unsuccessfully trying to find birthplace of my gt.grandfather Hermann Flemme b1855. He arrived in England sometime before 1871 as a young boy without his parents. He is recorded on the English 1871 census as being from Hannover (known as Prussia in USA). The only information his surviving grandchild can remember is that he said he was Austrian. We know his father was Heinrich Flemme, but the only clue to his mother's name is probably one of his two daughter's carried her name (Gertrude, Edith Sophia).
