The family of Thomas Ragg-Nuttall derived from Leicester, England I believe. apparently married in 1837 in England, first child, James, born in 1838 in Leicester, arrived in Australia in 1839. Now my family records come in. My ancestor, Thomas Collingbourne was born in England in 1795 and was later married to HannahJackson in Leicester in 1824 Their first born was Thomas Pitman Collingbourne born in 1825, then FREDERICK Collingbourne born 1827-1830. Thomas Collingbourne arrived in New York from Liverpool in 1843 with son, FREDERICK. His wife arrived in New York from Liverpool in 1845 with son, Thomas Pitman Collingbourne. Eventual settlement was in Milwaukee. The older Thomas had been a sign painter, artist, fancy type painter and pub (bar or tavern owner) in Leicester. Both Thomas and Fredeerick were fancy painters, artists in Milwaukee. Children of Thomas were artists and musicians in Milwaukee. The older Thomas died in Milwaukee in 1871. His son FREDERICK, as executor of his will, filed in court a document naming next of kin as Thomas P.,FREDERICK, "and the children of ????? Ragg, wife of James Ragg, a deceased child of the said testator, whose names are unknown to your petitioner". I note that a James Ragg was born in Leicester about 1838 and in 1843 when FREDERICK left Leicester with his father James would have been about 5 or 6, FREDERICK then being about 13 to 16. I notice that a son of James Ragg later born in Australia was named James FREDERICK Ragg.
