Notes for THOMAS DOTSON:
Thomas was the first cousin of Abigail Dotson. He traveled to Canada to rescue Abigail from her enforced captivity by the Delaware indians. Thomas and Elizabeth came from Pennsylvania through Maryland and the Shenandoah Valley to Greenbrier County, Virginia in the late 1700's. Thomas fought in the Revolutionary War in the Battle of Brandywine, Germantown and Monmouth. His occupation was that of a blacksmith. According to "Dodson Genealogy 1600-1907" by Thomas Ege, Thomas was a member of the Fifth Regiment of the PA line. He drew a pension of $96 per year from January 26, 1818 until his death on April 10, 1825.
