There once was a community called "DEBELLO" in Bad Ax Co.(now known as Vernon Co.) Bad Ax was named so after the Battle of Bad Ax.(This was an Indian battle)..Debello is a greek word meaning end of Battle. The Shreve and Daniels families, along with many of their extended families moved to the "Bad Ax" and surronding areas together from Ohio. in the mid 1850's...Bad Ax was a wildernes and was cleared and built upon by our ancesters who suffered much to endure the elements of this undeveloped land, There were indians that saw what was theres being taken over ,so you had that indian thing goin' on, The winters in wisconsin can be so cold. And the nearest towns were at least a full days ride away. We're talking raising sheep for their wool and most don't have a clue about "carding" it and then doing the spinning wheel thing... All this just so it can be knitted into something to wear to keep from freezing to death. My intention was not to write a book here. I just wanted to help you understand how our ancesters helped to shape the lives that we have today. and that should be one really good reason to want to know them better. and besides that this message board REALLY needed to be jazzed~up a bit. Thanks for your attention... Sandi Lou Olson
