Looking for infor on the parents of Laura Moffitt, b.17 Jan 1825 in Brookfield, Orange Co.,VT. Father was Elder John Moffitt.
The following information is from a 4 Nov 1889 article from Dickinson Center, New York.
The remains of Mr. Joseph Hill of Waldon, Kandee County, Illinois, were taken to him home last Monday by his wife and son Grant.
His estimable wife was one of ELder Moffatt's daughters, who formerly moved from Georgia, Vermont to this town. Mr. Hill came to this town when quite a small boy with the Moffatt family, and lived on the now Orvis farm.
After marring one of Elder Moffatt's daughters, he moved to the far west and took up his abode there. He became a wealthy and prosperous farmer and after forty years returned to the home of his youth, a grey haired man, to look up his former acquaintances and relatives.
Strange, through the saddest of all, he returned home to die. Such reminiscences as these call to our mind more forcibly than ever, that man is born to die.
