Hitting this brick wall hard! Greenville Shelton married Elizabeth WYRICK in 1844 in Wythe Co, Va, and they're on the census there in 1850, 1860, 1870 and 1880. According to someone who has actually seen the graves, they're buried somewhere near Wytheville, Va.

He supposedly was born in NC, according to the census (except 1850 which says Va.) I cannot find a record for him anywhere from before his marriage in 1844 or after the 1880 census. Elizabeth is on the 1900 census in the household of their oldest son Creed.
