I am looking for a connection between Elva Ann Elvington (b.1837, Lakeview, SC) - my grandmother gave me her name as her grandmother married to William Humphrey. She also said Elva Ann's mother was Appie Elvington, wife of Eli Scott, son of Pharoah Scott. I have found only one daughter listed for them, Louise Scott. I also came across her name, with Eli Scott as her father in a list of "orphans and poor children" who were taught by a school teacher for a charge. I wondered if she might have actually been a granddaughter, given the age of the "parents" who were born in 1790/1791. What confuses me is that her last name was Elvington - the "mother's" maiden name, although her "father" was Scott. I have found some of the Elvingtons in Tennessee, that's why I decided to post here as well as SC. Does anyone recognize names?
