I'm looking for info on an A.E. Carter listed in the 1880 McLemoresville, Carroll co. TN census. He was listed as a dry goods merchant. He had a wife, Eliza J. and a daughter Purira Hurt. He was 46 at the time. He's also listed in the 1891 voters list (though I have not seen this one). He lives next door to my gggrandfather, Pinkney Carter and his wife Mary. I can't find anything at all on Pinkney other than he was listed in the 1880 census living next door to A.E. Carter and that he married Mary Maria Christenberry in Henry co, TN 1866. I'm taking a chance that A>E. Carter was a brother of Pinkney's or a cousin. I'm hoping that A.E. owned the dry goods store and that someone could tell me more about this family, the store or any family members they might be able to find. I can't find anything.
