Having grown up in this area and researched family history for about 41 yrs, I can tell you that this city once had an extraordinary History..itself was like the Melting-Pot of the world...with rapidly growing industries of Iron,Tin & Coal, Glass-works & potteries and the RailRoad companies. It's situated between the Shenango River and Neshannock Creek. At one time it had a major playground amidst its industrial areas where as many as 2000 visitors a day went for walks and picnics. Many emigrants from the world over relocated there for work and later to be with earlier family members. The countryside is rich in farming and has many Amish folks residing there also. Lawrence County also has a website page under Rootsweb.com that allows one to contribute their only family photos, geographical/landmark photos, Bible records, Military Histories, Biographies and Queries, etc. It's well worth the visit!
