A memorial service will be at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, July 6, 2002, in his Beaverton home for Kala Chand Banerjee, who died June 25 at age 78.

Mr. Banerjee was born Dec. 23, 1923, in India. He received a doctorate from St. George's Hospital Medical School in London. In 1971, he immigrated to Chicago, then moved in 1973 to Portland, where he was a chemist for the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality. He married Archana Bhattacherjee in 1949.

Survivors include his wife; daughters, Shukla Karulkar and Swapna Agrusa; brother, Swapan K.; sister, Bela Mukherjee; and five grandchildren. His son, Shankar, died in May.
