My mom and I are seeking the parents of a line of Campbell's that originally came from Ross Co. Ohio. And also the family of George Edward Brown (AVREMOND/AVREMONTE) Eleanor (Nora) CAMPBELL (her parent's surname may have been KIMBLE) was born Dec. 10, 1861. She died at the age of 84 in Clark Co Ohio. I have her obituary and it list her as having 4 brothers.
Frank CAMPBELL of North Dakota Homer CAMPBELL of Forest, Ohio Thomas CAMPBELLof Springfield, Ohio Alfred KIMBLE of Dayton, Ohio.
I have no birthdates on the four brothers but assume since Nora was born in 1861 they were most likely born in that time period. It is rumored in our family that Grandma Nora's mother was a "proper English woman" who married an Indian Chief. I can find no record of this family in the census when they were children which leads me to believe that these rumors are most likely true. I have found Nora V. Campbell Brown in later census records after her husband George Edward BROWN died in 1911. It is believed that he came to America as a stowaway from France. His original name was something like AVREMONT/AVREMONDE. It is rumored that he got the name "BROWN" from a pharmacy sign in New York and that he served in Custar's Regiment. George Edward worked for the Switch and Frog Co. in Springfield, Ohio. George Edward and Nora had the following children;
James BROWN b. 1887 Clark Co.
Mabel BROWN b. 1890 married first a man by the name of SLYE, they had two children, Pearl SLYE and Edward SLYE. She was divorced and then married Charles EBRIGHT and they had two children, Ruth EBRIGHT and Georgie EBRIGHT. Charles adopted Pearl and Edward.
Lena Gertude BROWN b around 1891 in Clark Co. m. George RUST- No natural children
Minnie Celeste BROWN b. March 13, 1892 in Clark Co. Ohio. She married Cashie A. MILLER. They had four children. David Hughy, Albert C. , Mabel Gertrude (m. Lawrence HARNER,) and Elnora MILLER (m REMLEY.) Minnie died young and Lena and George raised Mabel and Elnora. Elnora was very young and Lena and George adopted her.
George BROWN b. 1897 Clark, Co.
Frank BROWN b. 1900, Clark Co.. Frank BROWN was killed in France on Oct. 31st, 1918 in WW1. I have the entire newspaper clipping of his death.
Homer BROWN b. 1901 Clark Co.
Mary BROWN b. 1895 d. 1897
Does Anyone know anything about Alfred Kimble possibly born between 1850-1890? I am trying to figure out why his surname is spelled Kimble and not Campbell like his siblings.
We have tons of pictures, Bible records, and obits that we would love to share with others. Thank you!!
