The surnames of Wanamaker, Wenmaker, Windmaker are all associated to my great grandfather, John Wanamaker b 1850 d 1932. He resided in Western NY in Langford, Dunkirk, and Arkwright throughout his life. I am in the process of tracing his roots prior to 1865 and I'm trying to discover where he and his mother came from. Speaking language was german and french, so the guess is Luxembourg region. His mother name was Susanna (not necessarily a german name) and soon after arriving in Langford, married a Engelbert Reif in 1857. Her surname may have been Wenmaker or closely related to that. Two more children were born to Susanna, Elizabeth in 1859 d 1934(married John Bantle b 1863 d 1954 of Langford) and Anna Maria b 1860 (married to Andrew Lejeune d 1908 or 9?
