I am looking for parentage information on David Barrett born 17 November 1813 presumably in New York. His parents reportedly were John and Mary Barrett who were murdered (circa 1820) while David was a young boy. David lived most of his life in Vernon, NJ on what is now known as Barrett Road. He bought High Breeze Farm in about 1860 from Samuel and Sarah Demarest. David Married Harriet Brown, daughter of Elijah and Huldah Mead Brown. High Breeze Farm remained in the Barrett Family until the death of Luther Barrett in 1986. The State of NJ now owns this farm and there is hope that the farm will be restored to a working early 19th century farm, especially since there were no major modernizations to the farm since that time.
