They dont show up on a Cencus until 1880 in Tallahatchie Co Miss,Harrison Station(now Enid)
Would love an Obit search of Monroe County to see if Mordecai passed as an infant
I do believe they were in Monroe county in 1860 because Nancy Francis Atkins married Squire Herndon in that County abt 1864/5.
The Herndons also moved to Tallahatchie Co Miss and are in the 1880 Cencus.
