I am trying to obtain the "correct" information regarding some of my ancestors.
Michael Spessard (4GGrandfather) Dec 1750-Apr 1825 b: Germany d: Chewsville, MD. Various sources claim that this Michael came to America on the ship "Duke of Bedford", and took an Oath of Allegiance in 1751. I would like to know how he could have taken that oath at less than ONE YEAR of age?
Maria Catharina Spessard (3GGrandmother) b: 18 Oct 1780 Chewsville, MD d: 4 Aug 1870 Vermilion County IL m: Michael Weaver 15 Nov 1802
Maria Elizabeth Spessard (3GGrandaunt) b: 15 Mar 1781 Washington County MD d: 5 Jun 1850 New Castle, PA m: Robert Reynolds 1798.
On these two sisters, this is my question: How can there be fewer than 5 months between their births?
If anyone has the accurate information or any clues please let me know.
