I'm looking for help with the relatives and ancestors of my GGGGrandparents Braddock Baker and Jemima/Gemima Hardin Baker who were born and lived most of their lives in Rockcastle County. Braddock Baker was born on 9 May 1842 and was the son of Wansley Baker and Jani E. Chasteen (according to Braddock's death certificate). He died in 1912 in Rockcastle. In the 1950 US census Braddock appears with his father Wansley born circa 1818 in Rockcastle in the household of Braddock Baker (born circa 1791) and wife Susan and (brother?) Robert Simms (Baker? born circa 1822). I am hoping someone knows something about Wansley Baker and Braddock Baker (1791). I can find no trace of Wansley Baker after 1850. I am guessing Wansley is the son of Braddock (1791). I am wondering if Braddock (1791) is the son of Wansley Baker Sr. and brother of Wansley Baker Jr. who appear in Madison Co. 1810 US census.
I can find nothing about Jani E. Chasteen, wife of Braddock Baker (1842), except that she is gone by the time of the 1850 census. Surely she ties in somehow with the Chasteen's of Rockcastle, but I can't find an obvious connection to the James Chasteen line. Is she connected to this line or were their other Chasteen's in Rockcastle in those early days?
Jemima Hardin (b. 1850, d. 1935) was born the daughter of John Allan Hardin and Mary Adams Hardin. Does anyone have any information on Mary Adams (b. Mar 1816)? Am also interested in all details of the line of John Alan Hardin, and his mother's family, the Chasteens(!).
