Grannis in 1848, resided in Boston 3 yrs, came to Elkader, IA in 1851 and resided there six years and while there their only child, Frankie, died aged four years. In 1857 they came to Pickwick (Iowa?) where she died, Jan 1904. Melissa was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church of Pickwick and of the school board for two years
