I'm researching my ggg.grandfather, WILLIAM W. HAMMOND, b: 14 Feb 1803/04 at Oglethorpe Co., GA. He d: 15 Sep 1872 at Jackson Co., GA. He md. 1st SUSANNAH "SUSAN" VAUGHN, b: 17 Nov 1805 prob. at Oglethorpe Co., GA; d: 25 Mar 1863 at Jackson Co., GA. WILLIAM W. HAMMOND md. 2nd MARTHA THURMOND On 25 Aug 1863 at Jackson Co., GA. I would like to find the parents of MARTHA.
WILLIAM and SUSAN VAUGHN HAMMOND had 16 children. My gg.grandfather, BOSWELL B. HAMMOND, b: 14 Sep 1845; d: 20 Aug 1916 at Barrow Co., GA was their youngest child. WILLIAM and MARTHA THURMOND had 4 children. I lose track of MARTHA and their children after the death of WILLIAM. WILLIAM W. HAMMOND is said to be buried on a farm in ARCADE, GA. The farm was once known as SAM HUNTER'S farm. I think it may have later been known as the NUNALLY FARM. I would like to find the farm where WILLIAM W. HAMMOND is buried. I would also like to find the parents of WILLIAM W. HAMMOND and any brothers and sisters.
I've been told that his father may have been CHARLES HAMMONS/HAMMONDS/HAMMOND who was also in Oglethorpe Co., GA in the early 1800s. Both CHARLES and WILLIAM named sons BOSWELL. CHARLES was older than WILLIAM, being born Abt. 1775 (place not known at this time). CHARLES was married to CLARICCY, b: 1776 in possibly VA. CHARLES d: 1833/34 in Oglethorpe Co., GA. CLARICCY d: Aug 1860 in Oglethorpe Co., GA. BOSWELL, the son of CHARLES and CLARICCY, moved to Heard Co., GA. He married NANCY MILLER. BOSWELL, the son of WILLIAM, remained in the Jackson Co., GA area, and is buried at Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Statham, Barrow Co., GA. WILLLIAM'S son, BOSWELL, md: LUCINDA HAYNIE, b: 03 Sep 1846; d: 29 Mar 1913. She is also buried at Pleasant Hill Presb. Church Cem., Barrow Co., GA. LUCINDA was a daughter of JOHN N. HAYNIE and CYNTHA/CYNTHIA HEWITT of Jackson Co., GA. I would like to find the proof that WILLIAM is the son of CHARLES HAMMOND/HAMMONS(DS). There was also an older WILLIAM HAMMOND in Oglethorpe Co. about 1800. Both CHARLES and WILLIAM may connect to him. There were also the following HAMMOND men in Jackson Co., GA in the late 1700s and early 1800s: CHARLES HAMMOND md: ANEY MARTIN 1815 Jackson Co. MARK HAMMOND md: MARGARETT GENTRY 1817 Jackson Co. ELIJAH HAMMOND md: ACENITH GENTRY 1819 Jackson Co. ABNER HAMMOND md: A.B. SPENCE 1820 Jackson Co. md: 2nd ELVIRA DAVIS 1833 Jackson Co.
Since Jackson Co. and Oglethorpe Co. are located in the same region, I am thinking that these families may connect to an earlier HAMMOND line that migrated into GA.
