Go to Google and type in Perry Burgess. He wrote a bunch of diaries that have been placed on the internet. The dates are from 1880 on forward. I found where the Jim Stees family arrived in August of 1884 from Nebraska. They were in Illinois in the 1880 census and started west. Billy Stees was born in Steamboat Springs on October 26, 1884, and this was confirmed in the Burgess diaries. I thought it was pretty neat.
