I don't know if your Frank G. Pollay is the same one that was my father's youngest half brother, but it could be, as many of the details listed in your posting are the same.

My uncle Frank's birth name was Frank Gilbert Polley, AKA Frank Pollay who was born in Omaha, Nebraska on 15 January 1882. He lived in Mesa Arizona, wrote popular music and songs in the 1920s and 30s under the name Frank Pollay, and was a piano tuner. I met him when he visited my parents in our home in Seattle the early-mid 1950s. He looked just like my father, except that he was 20 years older. I have no idea if he kept the name Pollay and changed his middle name to George (my father's name). Other than the birthdates, city of birth and middle name, the other information checks out perfectly. He had been married more than once, had a son named Gilbert who had an electrical shop in Phoenix, and at least one son in L.A. with whom he had no contact.

If your wife's grandfather and my uncle are the same person, I can give you some information about his parents, grandparents and siblings (my uncle Frank had two older brothers and an older sister). And...if you happen to hae an old photo of Frank G. Polley, you might send it to me in an email attachment; if he and my uncle are the same person, I should be able to tell, as he will resemble my father. And if he is the same as my uncle, I will be happy to attach a photo of my grandfather, John Warren Polley and his wife Alice Mkillard Polley and their two eldest sons. And if they are the same, your wife's grandfather had three half brothers and a half sister.

I hope this provides a strong lead for you. If my uncle Frank did keep his songwriter's pseudonym, no wonder you've been running up dead-ends trying to find information about his family.
