Hi Serena. I am a great-great-grandson of Willima J. "Wild Bill" McBride Heffington. I have at least a few articles on him in my now aging files.

Wild Bill changed his name in the middle of the Civil War when he changed sides from the South to the North. There was a period of time in this change when he, as I would put it, "freelanced" and pretty much took care of all family feuds, etc., before joining the Union as a recruiter of Union sympathizers from Arkansas to join the Union army.

His son, Calvin Franklin Heffington, was my father's grandfather. CFH's son was William Addison Heffington, my grandfather. One of WAH's sons was Leroy Blaine Heffington, my father. My name is Phillip Blaine Heffington.
