I am collecting family stories or oral histories of Arkansas Cherokees. Usually, they came to AR around 1810-1812, 1817 to 1828. Some moved on to Indian Territory around 1828. They settled in the area West of Batesville (now Independence County), South to the Arkansas River, as far West as the White River and North to roughly the Missouri line. They came from present-day Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, and North and South Carolina. If you have a family story about Cherokees but they don't show up on the Rolls (or do show up on the 1851 Old Settlers' Payment Roll or the 1841 Claim), I would be interested in getting a post or email about this.
