Hi, I could REALLY use some help! I have been searching for over a year--closer to two years--for my gr-gr-gr-grandfather's parents (& siblings). My gr-gr-gr-grandfather's name was John Hugh or Hugh John Ross (I'm not sure which). On my gr-gr-grandfather's death certificate John Hugh or Hugh John Ross was listed as "Huey" Ross. In the marriage records of my John Hugh or Hugh John Ross, he is listed as Hugh Ross married to Martha Griffin. In he census records, he is listed as John. He was born around 1827 in Monroe Co., AL according to 1850 census records for that county. In 1850, he married Martha Griffin. I have been told by some, that Hugh & Sarah Ross (in Monroe Co. also according to census records--but I think he was orginally from SC or maybe NC) were his parents. Well, here's the problem: There is a very nice lady in Monroe Co. that says that her "John R. Ross" was Hugh & Sarah Ross's son. All 3 Rosses were listed as living very close to each other in the 1850 census records. I can't just "assume" Hugh & sarah Ross are my gr-gr-gr-grandfather's parents. Is there anyone out there that is connected to this line of Rosses that can help me? There are MANY Rosses all over Alabama. Hugh Ross was also listed in Dallas Co. census records in the early 1800's before moving to Monroe Co. In Monroe Co. land records after 1850, there is a Hugh Ross & a Hugh L. Ross--living in close proximity to each other. If you can't help me with family info, can anyone offer any suggestions on where I could look next?
