E. Gwen Williams, artist, "Hudson Valley School," (1915) Mountainous Landscape with Cows & River, signed by her, just a beautiful 36"w by 24"h oil-on-canvas in 45"w x 34"h Gilt Wood & Gesso Frame.
Is anyone familiar with her work? Write me at SamWaltz @ SamWaltz . com or 302 . 777 . 4774. It's a gorgeous landscape, and I purchased it Sat from the auction of the household furnishings of Delaware's beloved late Governor Elbert N. "Big Bert" Carvel.
I'm told it hung in his home in Laurel, DE, for more than a half century, since he and his wife set up housekeeping. Each of them passed a couple years ago well into their 90s.
I've done some modest research, since I enjoy fine art, but I've not run across anything on E. Gwen Williams. 1915 is a bit late for the peak of what's called the "Hudson Valley Schools," perhaps 30 years past its peak, but it remained popular at that point.
