My grandfather was Clark Stinson (Stenson) Wall who was born 1-13-1882. We assume he was born in Williamson Co, TN. He died 2-13-1931 in Jackson, MS. His death certificate lists his parents as Frances Walls (Mother) and EP Wall. Clark married Kate Louise Knoch and had 3 sons and a daughter (my mom). His sons were Clark Sr (who died at 28), Charles Ezekiel (died in the 1960's) and James Knoch Wall. My mother is Katie Louise Wall (Russell). My chief source of information has been my mother who was 5 and her younger brother James who was only a baby when their father died. Their mother moved them back to Nashville TN, her hometown and there was no more contact from the Wall family. So their information has been at best hazy. However, they know their brother Charles was named (middle name) after Clark's father.
So by deduction that makes Clark's father name as Ezekiel P Wall. I have found 2 such people both are connected to the Clement Wall family. There is debate in my family which Ezekiel P Wall. One Ezekiel P Wall is born around 1807 in Williamson Co and died in Benton Co, MS in 1884. He is the son of Clement Wall. The other possibility is the Ezekiel P Wall born in 1842 and was the son of Andrew Wall who was son of Clement Wall and nephew to the other Ezekiel. My bet is on the younger Ezekiel. (There is also rumor of another possibility, name spelled as Azekiel Wall…) But I cannot find either man married to a Frances (Walls). Family verbal history says that Clark grew up on a plantation/farm in Williamson Co, TN that has been assumed to be his father's. Clark lived in Jackson, MS as of 1918 or prior to that as his second son Charles was born there as well as my mother and youngest son James. The oldest son Clark Jr may have also been born there but there is no information on where he was born. I know there was family and family history from the Clement Wall family in MS. So it makes sense that he is tied to this family line. Clark owned his own dry cleaner/alterations shop in Jackson. MS.
Clark had a brother Jesse (8-20-1884) who lived in Jackson, MS at the same time as Clark and family. Jesse was a sheriff there and after Clark's death moved to Springfield, TN at some point where he also was a sheriff. Jesse was married twice and had 2 children, Richard (Dick) and Frances. There was also rumor of another brother Ed Wall who married Rebecca Howell. This information was given by the family that sold my Uncle Jim (younger son James) his present home in Brentwood, TN. The couple stated that they were relatives/kin of Rebecca Howell. This family also said that the brother Ed was buried in the same cemetery as Clark. My Uncle and his wife checked it out by asking the groundskeeper, who said there was an Ed Wall buried there but in a different area than Clark. There is some skepticism in how Ed Wall is related to Clark. My mother and Uncle grew up believing that Jesse was the only sibling to Clark, but there was also a sister to Clark. Her name was Patrai Ella Wall Oden. She married Felix Oden. My mother remembers hearing about Felix as a child but never knew how he was related to the family. She has no memory of Patrai.
I have found record of Clark (Sr) only in the WW I Civilian Draft. His brother Jesse is also listed in the rolls but I have not found any census records or any other records for Clark Sr. It would be nice to tie him into the Clement Wall ancestry with more than just verbal history and common sense. It also sparks my curiosity that there is a family by the name of Stinson listed for Williamson Co. With Clark’s middle name as Stinson (Stenson) there could be relatives in that family as well.
