According to Online information, my STOUT line originates from Nottinghamshire, England. From there, Richard STOUT, b 1615 immigrated to the USA, eventually settling in New Jersey. The line continues with David> James> James> Abel> Jacob STOUT.
Abel STOUT (1740-1749)left Hunterton Co. N.J. and went to Virginia. It is a family tradition that Abel STOUT was a Baptist Chaplain in the Revolutionary War. The DAR records have Abel STOUT as father to Jacob (1771-1857).
I have verified Jacob STOUT's marriage to Mildred BALLENGER 27 Oct 1796 at the Culpeper Co Library.
This family was Baptist, and helped to establish the Stevensburg Baptist Church in the early 1800s.
