James Madison and his brother Calvin both fought for the Union in the Civil War.

Sarah Anne died in Pennsylvania, Frank died in North Dakota, Elizabeth died in Maryland, Charley died in Alberta, Canada. Most of the others stayed pretty close to the Clinton, Beloit, and Janesville, Wisconsin areas, and northern Illinois.

We have found quite a few Smith descendants, but are still looking for more, and are considering having a reunion in Beloit in 2006. If you think you belong to our family, please contact me.
