This unusual first name of Portman has been found in my family tree here in Australia commencing with Portman William Daniel Smith born in Echuca, Victoria,Australia in 1876.His father John Henry Smith,husband of Hannah, nee Phillips, came from Kennington,South London. I have found several other Portman Smiths from London in the IGI.
Has anyone a Portman Smith in their family tree?
If so I imagine there is a good chance we would share a common ancestor.
