Last week, I learned that I am genetically a Sizemore. The SMGF.org Y-chromosome database matches me exactly with the (unnamed) grandson of Calvin Lewis Sizemore (b. 1884). [Google tells me that his father was Joseph Nelson Sizemore.] This is probably a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd cousin. Also, the SMGF.org Y-database near-matches me with the son of Fred Grant Sizemore (b. 8 Sept 1884). One marker is different, so this person is probably a 4th cousin. There is another exact match in the male descendents of William Sizemore (b. abt 1797), who fathered Ellerson Fields (b. 1820) and Jackson Fields (b. 1818). That branch of the Fields line are genetically Sizemores.

My goal is to find at least a first or 2nd cousin in this group. To do that, I am willing to do Y-chromosome mapping of a carefully-selected portion of the Sizemore family tree. This will make the Sizemores the first family in the United States (of white European ancestry) that is both DNA typed and genealogically linked.
I would like to hear from any Sizemores who feel that they can provide information and contacts to make this great endeavor happen. I am willing to underwrite the first 25 samples in this endeavor.
