According to the following, Richard Pope seems to be the father of Nathaniel Pope.

Nathaniel, William, Richard & Thomas Pope seem to be sons of Richard Pope, Sr., b ca 1590 Eng. m. ca 1610 Eng. d abt 1652 Eng. merchant & soapmaker in Bristol, Eng. w. unk. Eldest son John remained in England. Nath. b 1614 Eng in Md. by 1635/36 land on Potomac R. for transporting self, wife & 5 menservants bef. 1648. Recv'd letter from bro.(f.doing well 1652)while liv. in Northcumberland Co. VA Pat. land in Westmoreland 1654 & 56. Have info on bro WM. & Thom. (Plymouth & Dartmouth, MASS.
