I may be looking for the same line. I do have some info. My grandmother was a Matchett born to a John Alexander Matchett who was born in Ontario. His father was a John Matchett. He was from Northern Ireland or Scotland. His step siblings are all from Campbeltown, Scotland. His Father was William. William's first wife died we don't know who she was, but she is the mother of John and Lachlen. His second wife was Margaret Matheson and they had six children. One of them was a William born in Campbeltown, Scotland.I can find all six of these children, but I can't find John. I know John was married to a Mrs. Mary Blue who had 2 teenage daughters of her own. She and John had 2 boys. The 1st one (don't know his name) and Mary died of typhoid fever when John Alexander was about 1 year old. John sent John Alexander to his brother Lachlen. I know John died in 1888.
This information comes from 2 sources both letters one written by my grandmother's Aunt Lucy Matchett in the 1970's and another from a Margaret Mathett Keith to my mother in the 1980's. John Alexander was born early 1870's, and I have to guess that John was born 1830's, and William around 1800.
