Looking for any information about Elizabeth Martin and her husband Joseph or Josiah Davis (1809 to ?) who lived in Southside, Montgomery County, Tennesee in 1848 or 1849.
They had at least two sons, James Oliver Davis (1848 ? - 1925) and Burl Davis of Hackberry, TN. (Burrell ?)
The newspaper obituary listed James Oliver Davis' father as Josiah Davis but we believe that his name is actually Joseph Davis.
James Oliver Davis married Virginia Trotter (1853 to 1922) of Dickson County, Tennesee.
James Oliver Davis and Virginia Trotter had several children who would be the grandchildren of Elizabeth Martin and Joseph Davis. They are: J. W. Davis & Mrs. Robert Gray (Ida Belle Davis) both of Clarksville, TN; W. J. Davis of Houston County, TN & later McEwen, TN; J. B. Davis (or P. B. Davis ?) of Cheatham County (and later Southside ?), TN; W. B. Davis of Nashville, TN; E. D. Davis of Southside, Montgomery County, TN; and Mrs. Newt Weems (Mollie Davis) of Ebling, KS.
Newt Weems and his wife lived in Ebling, KS in 1922 and then Mrs. Mollie Weems is listed as living in Wichita, KS as of 1944. I'm not sure if this is an indication that Newt had passed on by then.
E. D. Davis may be Ed D. Davis
J. W. Davis appears to be J. Wilson Davis who married Fanny Harvey on March 1, 1896. They had two daughters: Mrs. J Marvin Hayes and Miss Ira Mae Davis.

Mr. Davis was a son of Josiah and Mrs. Elizabeth Martin Davis. [Note: The mane Josiah Davis, above, is in error. Census records show the name to be Joseph Davis. It is possible that the father of Mrs. Davis, was Josiah Martin.]
