Mary MacDONALD - my Great x3 Grandmother - was born about 1797-1805 in St. Helier, Jersey, Channel Islands, United Kingdom.
On January 25, 1821 she married James POUND in St. Helier. They had five children: 1. William George POUND (1823) 2. Sarah Kingsford POUND (1824) My Gx2 Grandmother - married Sylvester St. John 3. Mary Ann POUND (1827) 4. Emma Thorra POUND (1829) 5. James Henry POUND (1830)
I don't know Mary's father's name (other than surname, that is) but her mother's maiden name may have been "EATON." There also may be a connection to Queen Victoria in this family.
Sometime between 1831 & 1840, James & Mary brought their family from England to Ontario, Canada and, except for Sarah, they seem to have evaporated after that.
At the time of their marriage, James was in the Royal Veteran's Battalion, possibly stationed in St. Helier. He was born July 4, 1795 in St. Mary Dover, England to George and Sarah (Kingsford) POUND. James was a tailor by trade.
Any bells dinging for anyone?
