Ellen Lake is my GG Grandmother. Her parents were Robert Lake and Mary Jane Atkinson. Robert Lake's parents were John Lake and Mary ????.
John Lake came to Australia in the early 1820's. He was sent here by his family; he came out as a Remittance Man. He and his wife had 3 sons, including Robert; the other 2 were James and Charles. Robert and his wife had 9 children, including Ellen.
If any of this rings a bell could you please let me know. I am trying to locate John Lake's father. Family legend has his father as a Sir Arthur Lake.
