[i find myself posting - or wanting to post separate message to a fair share of the 200 plus Keech hits at this site. I note none of those have posted here, so i hope this will not fall on deaf ears...]

I have already combined a couple of earlier messages and will repost here for perspective... then try to add a bit more in the hope some of what we have will be of value.

Most, though certainly not all, of the Keeches in Canada and their progeny descend from three brothers who came to Lenox-Addington Co, Ontario, @ 1830, as discussed below.

Martha was NOT born at Unadilla, NY. She was born 1764 - Perhaps at Warrens Bush, Tryon Co, NY [now Town of Florida, Montgomery Co,] NY. Her father was possibly George. She had at least brothers George [b 1853,]Israel Sr, John, and James [b Jan 1763, New Fairfield, Conn,]and two sisters. All 4 bros served in Rev. James enlisted at age 14 and served in Tryon Co Militia, as did bro George, Jonathan Spencer and Jeremiah Burch. Spencer m Martha as his second wife 23 Jul 1781. The Burches, Spencers, Israel and Geo Keech all moved to Unadilla @ 1790. James Keech Sr moved to Town of Western, Oneida Co after 1800. Geo moved to Town of Augusta where he died 1830. Martha d 11 Dec 1843.


James had known sons John [1784] Henry [1791],] George [1792,] James Jr [1796,] Andrew [1798,] Albert [1800,] and David [1805.] He also had 3 daus, poss 4. The oldest may have been Catherine. Elizabeth was b 1796 though this probably conflicts with James Jr. She m Ebenezer Gillett. The third dau has not been mentioned, but recently it was learned a Phebe Keech b 1799, Saratoga Co was married to Henry Plato and living on Webster Hill in the Town of Western, amidst the Gillett-Keech clans. She needs to be researched further.
John, Jas Jr and a 3rd bro served in War of 1812 - accompanied by their father! Sometime @ 1830, John, Henry, & Albert moved their families to Lenox/Addington Co. Among Henry's son was Wm, b 1818, Town of Western, who m Mary Jackson and amongst others William b @ 1855 at Camden, Lenon Addington Co, Ont, Can & m Mary Blackmond, 4 Dec 1876 at Enterprise, L/A Co.

All three were m in NY. John m Jul 1814 to Julia Crouch at the home of his father. Among those deposing to that fact was Nancy Haynes, dau of Asa & Nancy. They had Olive Amelia 1823; a son and dau b pre 1825 [census;] Wiley 1831; Henry
R 1840; John 1845 & Emma Jane 1849. There may well be others. Julia's mother Ellenor McKie Crouch Wiley was still living at John's 1861 - @ 98 yrs.

Henry m Eunice Gillett, sis of Ebenezer above; probably children of Chas Gillett. They had Catherine - May 1812, who m Jas Milligan; Elizabeth - Abt 1813 m James Garrison, prob cousin or bro of Albert Spencer's 1st wife Matilda Garrson; William - above; George - 19 May 1815 [bible] m Sarah A Cushman and later moved to Mich; [after she d Geo m his cousin Elizabeth, wid of Wm Spencer;] Jas - 1818, m Jane Guy and moved to Kan; Sarah - 1820, m Robt Milligan; Barton -14 Nov 1823, m Caroline ---; [only 2 known ch;] and Alfred 1828, m Susannah Prossner.

Albert m Nancy Haynes at Western. Contrary to published marr records, etc, for their ch, Albert m only once, and all ch were by Nancy [1851/61 census, etc.] Conflicting records must be assumed to be in error. They had: Catherine - 1822, m as 2nd wife - Albert Stephen Spencer; Van Rensalaer 1823, m 1 Almeda Hubbs; 2 - Susannah Prossner, wid of cousin Alfred above; [2 known ch by #1;] Jas Harvey - 1826, m 1 Cynthia Tanner; 2 1881 - Irene Spencer; Augustus - 1829, m Mary Ann Joyce; [Albert was listed in one record as Augustus;]
Wayman H Keech 1830; Shurley [m] or Sherrill - 1832, m Amelia R Spencer; John Nelson - 1836, Victoria Joyce; Amelia 1837 - Wm H Joyce; Kirby [?]1838; Elizabeth Jane - 1840, m Wm Spencer [as above;] and Margaret - 1842, m Enoch, son of Albert Spencer by 1st marriage [above.]

Lest I draw any reader into coma, will try to return soon to finish James and siblings.
