I am researching a Henry Heath who was a writer in the East India Company and later resident of Croee. He was a senior merchant and had done some time in the West Indies. I thought for a moment I had found him when I saw Henry Heath born in Durham and shipowner. But his son John Henry was born in Bencoolen, West Sumatra in 1794. This son went to South Africa with the 1820 settlers to Algoa Bay (Port Elizabeth) and had a large number of Heath descendents in the Eastern Cape, one of whom was my grandfather William Heath.
