I am looking for information about my great-great grandfathers parents. Don’t even know where to start. I am 60+ years old and since I have retired from the US Army (100% disabled Vietnam Vet)I have decided to make this my hobby. I do know that my great great grandfather, James L Gordon and his son James D Gordon came to the US in 1869. I believe James L was born in Edinburgh, but not sure. His wifes name was Jane or Jennie. They lived in Maryland before settling in Westmoreland County, PA. I can not get back any further for all the “older” relatives are now deceased. I am now one of the older generations. I would like to communicate with someone in Scotland about this. I know you can pay for information but why pay for something you are not sure of. Any help from you in locating someone to chat with would be most appreciated.
