I am looking for information on a Washington Gates that shows up in the 1850 Census Records for Laclede County, Missouri. It shows he was 52 years old at the time, and was born in Tennessee. His wife's name was Elizabeth (?), and was 55 at the time, and was born in North Carolina. They had 3 sons, George, Wiley (both born in Tennessee) and John (born in Illinois)and 2 daughters, Martha and Hannah (both born in Tennessee).
