My great-grandfather was William Silas Gaddis, son of Roena or Roena Gaddis. He was bornaround 1874 in Anderson Co. Kentucky. Around 1876 Roena gave him to Jackson Brown and his family, also living in Anderson Co. Kentucky, because she was not married and went to joined her family living in or near Tennessee. Jackson Brown raised him and he is found on census living with them. Around 1890 Roena returned to Anderson County , Kentucky with her new husband to get him. William Silas, now 16, refused to go with her because he was afraid she might leave him again. He later married Sarah Ann Wilard. This is the story that was handed down to my grandmother. I have traced Roena to Silas S. Gaddis (father) and Lucinda Pierce (mother), Winy Gaddis (also living in Anderson Co. Ky.) and William Gaddis. I am desperitely trying to find out what happened to Roena and Silas. Could anyone help me?
