I have a copy of the original marriage certificate for my grandfather (John W. Furlong) and grandmother (Elizabeth Keiling Allen) dated April 27, 1896. They married in Wythe County, Virginia. It lists his birth place as Wexford Co., Ireland, parents Thomas Furlong and Ann Murphy. The 1900 census of Kenton Co., KY, indicates John's family immigrated to the U.S. in 1868 when John was four years old. John's birthdate is January 13, 1864. There were 7 Furlong children of this marriage, five of whom lived, but my brother and I were the only Furlong children. Since I know my grandfather's birthdate I would hope it would be easier to identify his family in Ireland. I need help to locate this family. I don't know how my grandfather got to Virginia. My grandmother got there from her hometown of Lonaconing, MD, with her first husband, Christopher Allan. Any ideas?
