Walter married Emily Jane BUCK in Woodstock IL in 1874. They emigrated to Minnesota btw 1882 - 1886, first settling in Lyon, Lake Marshall MN and finally in Crow Wing, Deerwood MN by 1910.

They had a total of twelve children, most of them were as follows; Carrie Ella; Frank Elmer; Clarence E.; Linus William; Harry Monroe; Bertha; Eva; Harriet I.; Ernest; and Robert Glenwood.

Many of this family members are buried in Baylake Cemetery, Crow Wing, Irondale/Crosby,MN.
