I just registered to this new site. Thought I would let all other Friend researchers know there is another family linked to yours. The Payne/Friend family started around 1877, as Elijah Jefferson Friend married Rebecca Payne. They are found on the 1880 Marion County Arkansas, Franklin Township census. Elijah was married a second time to Lydia Cooley. Rebecca Payne brothers/Sister were:
1.John Thomas Payne m. Mary Herron, daughter of Simon Heron & Sussana Tabor.
James Albert Payne m. Sarah Clark, daughter of Elijah Clark and Charlotta Sexton. Sarah married Nute Risley after the daeath of James Payne and can be found living with Newt on the 1900 Marion County Arkansas census, Cedar Creek Township.
Francis Payne, unknown as to date of birht/death.
Lucinda Payne m. John Wes Henderson
All these families can be found in the 1880 Marion County Arkansas, Franklin township census.

John Thomas Payne & Mary Herrons oldest son John Thomas Payne jr. married a Margrett Yocham. They had two daughters (Mary Payne married Henry Resaon Friend) & (Myrtle Payne Jamerson who was the second wife of John Archibald Marmaduke Friend). The boys were the sons of James Friend & Wady Clark, who by the way was a niece of Sarah Clark. Myrtle & John had more children and moved to Selma Caifornia where their descendants still resied.
