The 1880 American Census shows William Freeman age 38 a Fireman born USA.
The census address is 2nd Ward San Francisco California.
Margaret Freeman age 44 born Ireland
William Henry Freeman age 19 "stepson" , weaver born in England.( my Grandfather is down on his marriage certificate as being born in Worcester England)
The latter I think is my Grandfather, for whom I have been trying to find the birth certificate for. As he is a "stepson" of William Freeman, it would mean that he was never born a Freeman, he became one, when his Mother Margaret married William Freeman, who worked as a fireman on the San Jaoqui Steamboat.
I am in desperate need of help in finding out more about him. when did William Henry arrive in America? when and where did his mother Margaret marry William Freeman? what was her maiden name? was William Henry officially adopted?
When did William Henry Freeman leave America to return to England and marry in Bethnal Green in 1896 ? if anyone can help me, i would be eternally grateful.rayfreeman@btinternet.com
