Services for Albert Amos Foster were December 4 at 2:00 p.m. in the Shady Dale Baptist Church with Rev. Weldon Bond of Fort Worth, Texas, a former pastor, officiating.
Born February 10, 1901, in Hill County, Texas, Mr. Foster died November 30, 1990, in the Gainesville Memorial Hospital. He was the son of the late William I. and Cora England Foster.
Mr. Foster came to Love County when a small child and lived in the Addington Bend area before moving to Shady Dale in 1938 where he remained the rest of his life. He was a farmer and active in the affairs of his community, having presided over the Bomar Election Precinct for nearly 50 years. He was a member of the Shady Dale Baptist Church.
Mr. Foster and Miss Cleta Lee Mathews were married on November 21, 1920, and she preceded him in death on February 7, 1985.
He is survived by two sons and their wives, Kennth (Hoot) and Johnie Foster of Midwest City, and Albert Lee (Hoppy) and Clara Foster of Morgantown, West Virginia; three daughters and their husbands, Helen and Lemuel Bryant, Peggy and William Allison, and Lancine and Preston Beck, all of Haslet, Texas; 15 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and five step-great-grandchildren.
Two grandchildren preceded him in death, Robert Lawrence Bryant, 1955, and Carlton Wayne Bryant, 1976.
Interment in Lakeview Cemetery was under the direction of Vernie Keel Funeral Home, Gainesville. Grandchildren serving as pallbearers were Thomas Foster, Matthew Foster, Sandra Foster Rothschild, David Allison, Pamela Bryant, and Dennis Bryant. Also serving as honorary pallbearers were grandchildren Michael Foster, Jody Foster and LCpl. Richard Hart.
